Successful organization of the HyBaCoM workshop by the LTTT

Bayreuth, 08th May 2025

As part of the ongoing joint PhD project “Design and Optimization of Hybrid Hydrogen Battery Energy Systems for Community Microgrids” (HyBaCoM) between Swinburne University of Technology, Australia and the Department of Engineering Thermodynamics and Transport Processes (LTTT) at the University of Bayreuth, the LTTT successfully hosted the Workshop on “Integration of Hydrogen Technologies into Regional Energy Systems” from 6th to 8th May 2025.

This three-day event held at the University of Bayreuth brought together a diverse group of speakers and participants from industry and academia, including experts from all over Germany as well as international guests from Australia.

The workshop provided a dynamic platform for sharing insights into the latest advances in hydrogen research and technology and fostered collaboration between partners. It covered the entire hydrogen value chain, with topics ranging from hydrogen production through optimized electrolysis and digital twin approaches to hydrogen storage and utilization in microgrids and hybrid energy systems, and fuel cell technologies for combined power and heat production.

The combination of presentations, discussions and networking opportunities led to a valuable exchange of knowledge and ideas reinforcing the importance of integrating hydrogen technologies into future regional energy systems.

The HyBaCoM workshop was organized as part of the TAO theme year 2025 “Energy Future Upper Franconia” and was funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF).
