On June 25th and 26th 2025, the kick-off meeting of the IEA HTP Project 68 took place in Aarhus, Denmark. The meeting, organized by the Danish Technological Institute (DTI), brought together research institutions from around 15 countries to discuss the future role of high-temperature heat pumps (HTWP) in industrial decarbonization and to define the objectives for the three-year project. The focus was on topics such as cross-sector cooperation, an international market overview and the development of teaching materials to convey the technology.
The German project consortium comprises seven research institutions, including the University of Bayreuth. Our associate Jaromir Jeßberger took part in the meeting and presented findings from the second funding phase of the Geothermal Alliance of Bavaria. Results from the current third funding phase and other related projects will also be included in the project work - with the aim of making practical knowledge on the industrial application of HTWP available internationally.
