On October 18, 2025, the VDI Prize for the Best Master’s Thesis in Engineering was awarded to Ms. Kristina Lasch, M.Sc., during the Faculty of Engineering’s graduation ceremony. Ms. Lasch, who studied Energy Technology, wrote her master’s thesis entitled “Techno-economic Comparison of a High-Temperature Heat Pump and a Reversible ORC for Peak Load Coverage in a Geothermal Heating Plant” under the supervision of Professor Dr.-Ing. Dieter Brüggemann.
After successfully completing her studies, Ms. Lasch is continuing her scientific career at the Center of Energy Technology, where she is conducting research as part of her PhD on the further development of Carnot batteries – an innovative energy storage technology that combines high-temperature heat pumps, ORC systems, and thermal storage into a flexible, integrated system.
