LTTT at the Thermodynamics Colloquium 2026 at Technical University of Dortmund.

Bayreuth, September 30, 2026

From September 30 to October 2, 2026, this year's Thermodynamics Colloquium took place at Technical University of Dortmund. Once again, the event provided an opportunity to discuss current developments and scientific challenges in the fields of thermodynamics and energy technology and to promote professional exchange within the German thermodynamics community.

LTTT was represented with a variety of scientific contributions:

  • Dr.-Ing. Matthias Welzl demonstrated in his presentation how high-pressure hydrogen storage systems can be modeled and integrated into various energy systems.
  • Julian Gundelwein presented a poster contribution on a measurement concept for the experimental investigation of the dynamic behavior of an ORC system.
  • Mohammed Irfan Shemer Rasool Thasin presented his research on waste heat utilization from PEM fuel cells in hydrogen-based energy systems in a poster contribution.
  • Chris Burkel showed in another poster contribution how the system design of seasonal ice storage systems can be implemented using mixed-integer linear optimization.

In addition to the scientific program, September 30 marked the final day of Prof. Dr.-Ing. Dieter Brüggemann as full professor and chair holder of LTTT. The transition of the chair leadership to Prof. Dr.-Ing. Dennis Roskosch therefore took place seamlessly during the Thermodynamics Colloquium.

We are already looking forward to the next Thermodynamics Colloquium in 2027 in Bremen and would like to thank the organizers at Technical University of Dortmund for the successful event!
